Grady Whitley

Grady Lee Whitley, age 87, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, September 1, 2012 at CMC NorthEast, Concord. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be in Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11:00 am. Rev. Bob Gruver and Rev. Nathan Fox will officiate and the burial will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Born January 13, 1925 in Stanly County,NC, he was the son of the late Kelsey Ervin Whitley and the late Ossie Lee Cline Whitley. He was also preceded in death by brothers; Homer R. Whitley and Hugh Whitley; and sisters, Mattie W. Lambert, Pauline W. Howard, Bertha W. Huneycutt and Evelyn W. Harkey. He is survived by his wife, Edith Delia Huneycutt Whitley of the home; son, Marvin Everett Whitley of Albemarle; daughters, Rita Faye Hartsell of Oakboro and Wanda Lee Whitley Speight of Albemarle; brother, Lowell Columbus Whitley “Pete” of Albemarle and sisters, Lillie W. Hinson and Ruby W. Litaker, both of Albemarle; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was a retired machine operator for the NC Department of Transportation and a member of the First Assembly of God, Albemarle.
