Grover Lee Baucom, 87 years of age, of Monroe, passed away Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Carolinas Medical Center - Union in Monroe.
Grover was born May 29, 1927 in Union County to the late Henry Baucom and the late Zillie Mae Little Baucom. He was also preceded in death by sister, Glennie Baucom Long.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Shiloh Advent Christian Church, 3601 Sikes Mill Road in Monroe. The graveside service will follow at 3:00 pm in the church cemetery officiated by Rev. Arval Rushing and Rev. Travis Hutcheson. Military honors will be conducted by the New Salem American Legion Post 440. At other times the family will be gathering at the home of Willie and Arval Rushing, 7121 Alexander Farm Road in Monroe.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Glenda Denise Hinson Baucom of the home; nephews, Eddie Long of Monroe, and Bobby Long of Arkansas; lifetime friend, Johnny Williams; his pet companions, Penny and Tigger; and numerous cousins.
Grover honorably served his country in the United States Army as a MP in Pusan, South Korea. He loved to go camping and enjoyed taking his dog Penny on rides in his golf cart.
