Guy Haskel Hefner, Jr., 52, of Stanfield, NC died June 26, 2011 at his home, of esophageal cancer. He fought a courageous battle for the past year and a half. Guy, Jr. was born June 21, 1959, in Mecklenburg County. He was the only beloved son of the late Guy Haskel Hefner, Sr. and Jane Brooks Hefner, who survives. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Debbie Wilson Hefner, who died March 5, 2010. Guy was a devoted husband and was Debbie’s caregiver throughout her battle with leukemia, never complaining. He was also preceded in death by his “second momâ€, his mother’s dear sister, Iris. He died on the seventh anniversary of her death. Guy was a fine Christian man and was an inspiration to all people he met. He loved restoring Volkswagens and Chevrolet cars. The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 28, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Midland. Pastor Clinton Efird will officiate and burial will follow in Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte. Other surviving family includes his son, Marcus Guy Hefner, of the home; daughter Stephanie Nicole Bullins and her two daughters; and parents-in-law, Ray and Julia Wilson of Stanfield and their children, who he thought of as his brothers, sister, and nephews. The family would like to thank his sister-in-law, friend and caregiver, Libby Watts. They would also like to thank all his surgeons and doctors, especially Dr. Lloyd Bridges, Home Health Care of Union County, Hospice of Stanly County, and their staff.
