Guy Steele

Guy Franklin Steele, 80 years of age, of Concord, was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 6, 2015 at his residence

Guy was born September 26, 1934 in Rowan County to the late Luther Franklin Steele and Ola Mae Barrier Steele. He was also preceded in death by his son Guy Franklin Steele Jr.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Thursday, July 9, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 3:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel of Concord. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis.

Survivors include wife, Rachel Steele , daughter, Crystal Steele Blackwelder and husband Chris, daughter Sheila Hinson Howell and husband Joe, son, Gary Dale Hinson and wife Nydia, son, Tony Wayne Hinson and wife Kelly, four grandchildren, Summer Blackwelder, Chrissy Howell Lee and husband Battey, Brian Howell and Marie Norat, sister, Helen Carriker and husband Leon, brother, Ronald Steele and wife Emily and a number of nieces and nephews.

Guy retired from Fieldcrest-Cannon where he worked for 46 years as a loom fixer. He was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church and loved the Lord. He served on the building and grounds committee for many years. Guy was a skilled carpenter and mechanic. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandkids. Guy loved the outdoors, fishing and playing horseshoes along with an interest in trains. He also enjoyed cooking and was well known for his chicken and dumplings, banana pudding and chocolate pie.
