Harold Blackwelder
November 5, 1928 — July 26, 2017
Harold Eugene Blackwelder, 88, of Concord, NC passed away early Wednesday morning, July 26, 2017 at Five Oaks Manor in Concord after a brief illness.
Mr. Blackwelder was born November 5, 1928 in Cabarrus County, NC to the late Sidney David and Annie Ruth Safrit Blackwelder. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years the former Margaret Lucille Goodman and his precious granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth Blackwelder. In addition, he was preceded in death by his 4 brothers, John, Paul, Jim and Earl "Creep" Blackwelder.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 30 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. Funeral services for Mr. Blackwelder will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 31 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 100 St. John's Church Road, Concord, NC. with the Rev. Dr. Mark J. Ericson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Blackwelder was employed with Fredrickson Motor Lines for over 40 years before he retired in the mid 1990's. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force earning the rank of Sergeant. He was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was a charter member of Cold Water V.F.D. He also enjoyed serving as a 4-H leader working with young adults.
Survivors include his three devoted sons Harold L. (Martha) Blackwelder of Winterville, NC; Timothy E. (Joyce) Blackwelder of Cleveland, TN; Andrew T. (Billie) Blackwelder of Concord, NC; and his four loving grandchildren, Daniel, Melissa, Tegan and Jennifer. Also surviving are his six loving great-grandchildren and two brothers, David R. (Monty) Blackwelder and Ned (Daphne) Blackwelder both of Concord, NC along with many nieces and nephews.

Harold will be deeply missed by his loving and devoted family and many friends. May God grant him eternal rest.
