Harold Coley

December 18, 1937 — June 11, 2017

Retired NC State Master Trooper Harold D. Coley, 79 years of age, of China Grove, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017.

Harold was born December 18, 1937 in Cabarrus County, NC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, former Concord, NC Police Officer, and NC Highway Patrol Trooper serving in Iredell, Wilkes and Rowan counties and was the recipient of the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. He was past President of the NC Retired Peace Officers Association, past President of The North Carolina Highway Patrol Retirees' Association and past President of the Rowan County Peace Officers Association.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years, Kay Pinkston Coley; his son Harold D. Coley, II (Debbie) of Salisbury; his stepson, Mark Shoaf (Kamm) of Piedmont, SC; brother, James L. Coley of Concord; sister, Nancy Mayer (Robert) of Charlotte; grandchildren, Teddy Coley (Nikki), Christine Hubbard (Chad); and great-grandchildren, Matthew Coley, Isabella Coley and Annabelle Hubbard and a number of nieces and nephews.

Harold is preceded in death by his first wife, Priscilla Thomas Coley, the mother of his children, father Oscar Raymond Coley; mother Maggie Amanda Jones Coley; daughter, Yvette Priscilla Coley Campbell; brothers, D.W. (Doc) Coley, Oscar Coley, David Coley and Robert Coley; sisters, Mae Lambert and Helen Alexander.

Harold was a Christian, serving his LORD and SAVIOR, JESUS CHRIST as a member of West Corinth Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm Saturday, June 17 at West Corinth Baptist Church, 120 Corinth Church Road, Mooresville. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm officiated by Pastor Robert Suttles and Rev. Dr. Jim Harris. The North Carolina Highway Patrol Honor Guard will serve during the visitation and funeral as pallbearers and provide military style services. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Concord, NC.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Sharon Holt RN and all the staff at Cabarrus County Hospice for the care given to Harold.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Corinth Baptist Church, 120 Corinth Church Road, Mooresville, NC 28115-4226 or Hospice of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

The family will be gathering at the home to receive visitors.
