Harold Johnson, Jr.

Harold Lee Johnson, Jr., 65, of Harrisburg, NC passed away Saturday, September 14, 2019.

Harold was born May 9, 1954 in Huntington, WV, to the late Harold Johnson Sr. and the late Dorothy Bias Johnson.  He was also preceded in death by sister, Judy Carol Benitez.

When he was five years old, his family relocated to Sanford, FL.  In 1976, he joined the Sanford Fire Department, where he served as a Firefighter/EMT for 25 years.  Harold had a passion for racing and raced at many local short-tracks around Florida.  After retiring, he moved to North Carolina, where he pursued his passion for racing.  This sport took him, his family, and friends all over the East Coast.  While in North Carolina, he worked at American Tire Distributors and retired in 2016.  Harold was an avid hunter and loved traveling back to his home state of West Virginia to hunt.  Harold's personality was one-of-a-kind.  He never met a stranger and loved spending time with his family.  Harold was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to cherish Harold's memory include beloved wife, Tessie Johnson of Harrisburg, NC; son, Brandon Johnson and wife, Crystal, of Orange Park, FL; son, Bradley Johnson and wife, Jennifer, of Rockwell, NC; stepdaughter, Samantha Horne and husband, Michael, of Harrisburg, NC; sister, Juanita Craig and husband, Floyd, of Sanford, FL; grandsons, Lucas, Logan, Asher, Tucker and Taylor; and granddaughters, Ryleigh and Kennedy.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, September 21, 2019, from 9:30 am - 10:45 am, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Harrisburg, NC.  The service in celebration of Harold's life will follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel, officiated by MRO Chaplain Donnie Floyd.  Retired Fire Chief and lifetime friend, Robert Vaughn, will be giving Harold's eulogy.  Harold's final resting place will be Barboursville, WV.
