Harold Eugene "Gene" Wensil Jr, 70 years of age passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at his home in Concord. Mr. Wensil was born December 22, 1943 in Concord, NC to the late Harold Eugene Wensil Sr. and the late Ethel McQueen Wensil. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, February 10, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 10:00 am at the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel. Services will officiated by Rev Don Burleyson and Rev Ben Creed. Burial will follow at the Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Ann Wensil; two sons, Eugene (Cindy) Wensil, and Jeff (Shannon) Wensil; daughter, Tami (Mike) Specht; two sisters, Connie Ashburn, and Linda (Bobby) Seagraves; mother-in-law, Doris Kirk; eleven grandchildren, Ashlyn, Sammy, Faith, Daylon, Amy, Hailey, and J.T. Wensil; Mikenzly and Michael Specht; Destiny Smith, and Allison (Jason) Brown; four great grandchildren, lifelong friend and business partner, Ed (Bobbie) Carter; special nieces, Kathy Elizabeth (Michael) Smith and Amy Ashburn; and eight nephews. He was affectionately known to many as "Pops", especially to Alia Banks. Gene served his community through his work as a co-owner of Interstate Plumbing. He loved spending time with his grandchildren. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr Steffens and his staff at the CMC-NE Oncology Department.
