Harriette Ann Jakiela, 66, of Harrisburg, passed away on December 31, 2020 in Harrisburg, NC.
She was born on April 20, 1954 to Ben and Barbara (Winecoff) Howie at Concord, NC. She was a graduate of Central Cabarrus High School and attended Campbell University. After college,
Harriette traveled the world doing mission work. In her later years, she was a homemaker. She was married to Edward Jakiela for 25 years before he passed away. She lived her last few years being a wonderful Nana to her two grandsons.
She was a member of Rocky River Presbyterian Church.
Harriette is survived by her son, Ben Jakiela, and his wife, Noel and their two sons, Greyson and Langston. Survivors also include her step-son, David Jakiela and his three daughters, Christal, Catherine, and Maggie and their families; brother, William Howie and wife Gitta and sister, Imogene Herman and their families.
She was preceded in death by husband, Edward Charles Jakiela, Jr., father, Ben Johnston Howie and mother, Barbara Ann Howie.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 7th at 6pm at Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg with Rev. Dr. Neal Carter officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation made to the Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland or the Apraxia-kids.org in Harriette’s memory. This was an organization that was near to Harriette’s heart as her grandson has Apraxia of Speech.
