Harry Polk, Jr

Harry Glenn Polk, Jr. died Sunday, October 30, 2011, at his home in Concord, NC. The family will receive friends from 1 -2 p.m., Thursday, November 3, 2011, at McGill Baptist Church 5300 Poplar Tent Road Concord. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the sanctuary. Dr. Steven Ayers and Rev Charlie Davis will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be performed by Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. He was born February 19, 1942, to the late Harry Glenn Polk, Sr. and Alena Aiken Polk. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Sandra Kay Polk, two daughters, Kimberly Ann and April Camoline, and his second wife, Iris Polk Moore. Harry worked as Area Program Manager for NC Department of Corrections. He received Order of Long Leaf Pine on retirement. He is survived by one son, Harry “Tripp” Polk III and wife, Christina of Gray, TN; one daughter, Michelle Polk, of Concord; four granddaughters, Darby Hudnall and Iris, Lily, and Ashlyn Polk; one brother, Rick Polk of Concord; one sister, Martha Radford of Weaverville, NC; aunt, Yvonne Spencer of Concord; uncle, Arnold E. Aiken and wife Ramelle of Garner, NC. Memorials may be made to The Polk-Aiken Scholarship Fund C/O McGill Baptist Church 5300 Poplar Tent Road Concord, NC 28027.
