Harvey Walters

Harvey Alvin Walters, 72 years of age, of Harrisburg, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at Carolina's Medical Center-NorthEast, Concord.

Harvey was born May 23, 1943 in Cabarrus County, to the late Homer "Red" Franklin Walters and Hazel Knight Walters. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Frank Walters and Colin Walters; his sister, Brenda Taylor.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Patricia Head Walters; his son, Greg Walters and wife Wendy of Mt. Pleasant; his daughter, Sherrie Taylor and husband Dean of Concord; his four grandchildren, Zachary Taylor, Sarah Walters, Emily Walters and Jacob Taylor; his sister, Betty Everhart of Kannapolis.

Harvey retired from Charlotte Motor Speedway after a 33 year career as Director of Operations. He was a track operation consultant who consulted at racetracks across the country. After retiring, Harvey could always be found spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. Harvey never met a stranger and his family was always amazed that no matter how far away from home they were, Harvey would find someone he knew.

The family will be gathering at the home in Harrisburg.
