Harvey Yow

Harvey Ray Yow, Sr., 73, of Davidson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness with pneumonia on Friday, January 3, 2020.

Harvey was born October 22, 1946 in Cabarrus County to the late John Houston Yow, Sr. and the late Attie Mae Love Yow.  He was also preceded in death by brother, Ira Gene Yow.

Harvey worked 32 years with Fieldcrest Cannon/PillowTex and retired from Cabarrus County Schools in 2011.  He loved working around his home and working with his hands (building and gardening).  Harvey was a loving husband, father, brother and Paw Paw.  He will be forever loved and dearly missed.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Monday, January 6, 2020 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord.  The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am at New Gilead Reformed Church in Concord, officiated by Rev. Robert Palisin.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park Kannapolis.

Harvey leaves behind beloved wife of 28 years, Nancy Goodman Yow; son, Ray (Toni) Yow, Jr.; daughter, Cathy Thomas; son, Jacob Ray Goodman; brothers, Junior (Sandra) Yow, Steve (Diane) Yow, and  Glenn (JoAnne) Yow; sisters, Nancy (Bobby) Tucker and Janie (Terry) Burleson; sister-in-law, Barbara Yow; special aunt, Mildred Yow; 6 grandchildren, Tyler, Amber, Hunter and Jennifer Yow, Krista and Ethan Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he dearly loved.

The Yow family would like to thank the staff of Cabarrus Family Medicine, the doctors and nurses of the second floor ICU at Atrium Cabarrus, and especially his loving daughter-in-law, Toni Yow, all of whom lovingly cared for him.
