Haywood Norris

Haywood Norris, 82, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday 10 April 2018 at Stanly Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and song.

Mr. Norris was born 09 February 1936 in North Carolina to Roy Alexander Norris and Julia Katherine Norris.

He is survived by his son, Virrian Norris and wife Debora of Norwood; a daughter, Juanita Norris of Albemarle; one brother, Donald Norris of Wallace; three sisters, Barbara Bradshaw of Wilmington, Edrena Burkehead of Indiana, and Linda Ervin of Wallace. Three grandchildren, Mark Britt, Laura Mabry, and Leah Norris; Three great-grandchildren, Aliye Mabry, Carmen Britt, and Jace Mabry.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Earl Norris, Leroy Norris, and Wilbur Norris.

“Pa Norris” was a U.S. Army veteran with a love of string instruments, old tractors, trucks and hats. His greatest joys in life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, followed by coffee, sweets, and Hardees biscuits.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions and memorials be given to Community Hospice or Immanuel Baptist Church in Albemarle.
