Hazel Goodman

Hazel "Memaw" Goodman was born to Charley B. and Rena C. Waisner on May 2, 1922.

She entered into the gates of Heaven on July 24, 2014.

Hazel worked for many years as a spinner at American Efird Cotton Mill . In addition to being a full time employee, Hazel was also a mother and homemaker. She was always an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her friends and family. Over the years, Hazel developed a love of poetry and began writing her own pieces on various subjects, but especially on her love and faith in God. She was very musically talented, and sang in church every Sunday. She passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren.

Hazel was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rowland Goodman, son Walter “Ted” Cole Jr, granddaughter Lisa Aucoin and grandson Kyle Cole.

She is survived by her son, David Wayne Cole, and her daughter, Peggy Cole Smith. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: David Wayne Cole Jr, Danna Cole Talbert, Stephen Harris, Fallon Smith Treadaway, Tracy Cole, Darren Cole, and Sue Aucoin-Jende. Hazel is also survived by18 great-grandchildren.

The family will be holding a memorial service at the top of Morrow Mountain State Park on Thursday, July 31, 2014 from 2pm-4pm. Anyone that would like to attend to pay their respects is welcomed to do so.
