Hazel Hartsell

Mrs. Hazel Jeanette Hathcock Hartsell, 78, of 1810 Concord Lake Road, Kannapolis, formerly of Arrowhead Drive, Concord, passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2010 at CMC NorthEast. Born on January 5, 1932 in Stanly County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Bertha Helms Hathcock. A visitation will be held on Saturday at Hartsell Funeral Home, Concord from 6:00 until 8:00. A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 2:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Russell officiating. Internment will follow at Philadelphia Baptist Church, Stanfield. The family meeting place will be the home of the daughter at 9825 Bowman Barrier Road, Mt. Pleasant. Hazel had many friends and loved helping people from all walks of life. She enjoyed cooking and sharing with her friends. She and her husband owned Hartsell’s Cleaning Service. After retiring, along with her husband, she spent her later years at Eden Gardens and Transitional Health Services; where she resided until her death. She was a member of Kerr Memorial Baptist Church. Hazel was preceeded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd Jack Hartsell, who passed away on June 9, 1997; brothers, Lloyd, Ralph, Wade, and Joe Hathcock. She is survived by son, Michael Stephen "Mike" Hartsell and wife, Dolly, of Kannapolis; daughter, Debbie Smith and husband, Tommy, of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Blane Hathcock, of Albemarle; sisters, Rachel Hudson, of Albemarle, Margaret Almond, of Charlotte, Polly Little, of Stanfield; grandchildren, Stephen Hartsell and wife, Patricia, Chad Smith and wife Mandy, Chris Smith and wife, Wendy; five great grandchildren and one due in September.
