Mary Hazel Black Little, 92, of Bethel Church Road, Midland, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Little was born October 19, 1918, in Cabarrus County. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hal Eugene Little, in 2008; father, Samuel Dowd Black; mother, Bessie Sossamon Black; brothers, Oscar and Gilbert Black; sister, Annie B. White; and son-in-law, Bill McGee. Hazel was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church, a member of UMW, and taught childrens Sunday School classes for many years. She was a member of Flowe’s Store ECA Club for 59 years, serving as an officer at the county and district levels. She also helped organize the Ladies Auxiliary for the Flowe’s Store Volunteer Fire Department. Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 27, 6 – 8 p.m., at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. At other times the family will meet at the home of daughter, Becky McGee, 9605 Bethel Church Road. The funeral will be Thursday, 11:00, with a 30 minute state, at Bethel United Methodist Church, Midland, Rev. Mark Clontz officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Judy York and husband, Gene, and Becky McGee, all of Midland; son, Larry Little, and wife, Nancy, of Concord; grandchildren, Kim Gandy and husband, David, Scott Little and wife, Cinnamon, Chandler McGee and wife, Lalena, Bobby McGee and wife, Wendy, Garrett McGee and wife, Andrea, Alison Bost and husband, Kevin, Brian York, and Kristen Insco and husband, Adam; and 17 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Building Fund, 12700 Idlebrook Rd. Midland, NC 28107. Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland, is serving the Little family.
