Helen Barnhardt

Helen W. Barnhardt, 85 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at her home. A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Mary Hatley and assisted by Rev. Patsy Barhnardt, will be held at Cold Springs United Methodist Church, 2550 Cold Springs Road E, Concord, NC 28025, on Friday, July 6, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Helen was born on August 19, 1926, to the late Horace and Lola Wiley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Brice Barnhardt; a grandson, Roger Wayne Barnhardt; two brothers, Leonard Wiley and Doug Wiley; and a sister, Rachel Harrison. She was a member of Cold Springs United Methodist Church where she kept the children’s nursery for over 25 years and a member of Eileen Pryor Guild. She will be remembered for graciously sharing her homemade yeast rolls and beautifully decorated cakes. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her family and to many others who called her “Mawmaw Helen”. Helen is survived by daughter, Brenda Long; son, Rev. Rick Barnhardt and wife, Rev. Patsy Barnhardt; grandchildren, Todd Long, Reece McClellan and wife, Sharon, Jeff Barnhardt and Michelle Wilburn, Karie Long, Penny Freeman and husband, Ronnie, and Amber Scott and husband, Aaron; sisters, Frances Southard and husband, Dewey and Jane Wiley; and six great-grandchildren.
