Helen Josephine Carpenter Benton, 85 years of age, of Kannapolis, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 at her home.
Helen was born May 21, 1930 in Cabarrus County to the late Floyd Glenn Carpenter and the late Mary Adelaide Robinson Carpenter. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, George Harvell; second husband of 41 years, Ben William Benton; son, Thomas "Eddie" Harvell; and brothers, William "Bill", Ray, Floyd, Joe, and Leonard Carpenter.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will start at 3:00 pm in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Raymond Davis. The burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. At other times, the family will be gathering at her home.
She is survived by her sons, George Harvell of Wilmington, James Harvell and wife Linda Dixon Harvell of Kannapolis; daughters, Mary Harvell of Claremont, Patsy Kimrey of Hickory, Nancy Nolan and husband Wade of Mt. Pleasant, Patricia Benton of Waxhaw; brothers, Calvin Carpenter of Mt. Pleasant, Marion Pink Carpenter and wife Libby of Salisbury; sister, Fannie Mae Stegall of West Virginia; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchilden; and her beloved cat, Trooper.
She was a faithful member of Solid Rock Worship Center. Her favorite pastimes were reading and working crossword puzzles.
