Helen Crowell

Helen Elizabeth Brooks Crowell, 80 years of age, of Matthews, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Elliotte Manor in Charlotte. Helen was born July 24, 1933 in Stanfield, NC to the late Charles Macon Brooks and the late Virginia Lee Williams Brooks. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herman Crowell; and her brother, Charles Eugene Brooks. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Rev. Dwight Mabry and Chaplin Rick Plyler. The burial will follow at Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery, 12495 Philadelphia Church Road in Stanfield. She is survived by her sons, Edward D. Crowell and Harvey Crowell, both of Matthews; two grandchildren, Tiffani Leighann Crowell and Candace Brittany Crowell, both of Matthews; and sisters, Mavis Cochrane of Concord, Betty Morgan of Monroe, and Kay Haigler of Matthews. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Crowell family.
