Helen Diggs

Helen Yow Diggs, 83, formerly of Stanfield, passed away Monday, October 18, 2010, at Britthaven of the Piedmont, Albemarle, NC. Mrs. Diggs was born August 3, 1927, in Stanly County. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Alex Diggs; father, James Titus Yow; mother, Laura Petrea Yow; and sisters, Lois Love and Laura May Baucom. The visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 19, 7 – 9 p.m., at Hartsell Funeral Home, Midland. At other times, the family will meet at the home of daughter, Elaine, 5494 Rushing Road, Stanfield. The funeral will be Wednesday, 2:00, at Kinza Memorial Church, Stanfield, with a 30 minute state. Dr. Darrell Nance, Rev. Ron Honeycutt, and Rev. Eddie Hill will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Ann Clontz of Charlotte and Elaine Rushing of Stanfield; sons, Gene Diggs of Concord and L. C. Diggs of Stanfield; sisters, Margaret Yow and Hazel Morgan, both of Stanfield, and Evelyn Tarlton of Concord; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
