Helen Heglar

Helen Louise Blanchard Heglar, 88, of Concord passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2011. Mrs. Heglar was born on March 2, 1923 to the late Norwood Pitt Blanchard and the late Mattie Bell Gaylor Blanchard. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Adam Franklin Heglar. Mrs. Heglar was a member of Cold Springs United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, Hawley Haines Heglar and wife Cindy, of Bristol TN, Adam Blanchard Heglar and wife Mary, of Fayetteville NC, two sisters, Mary Duncan of Chattanooga, TN and Evelyn Fowler of Salisbury, NC; a brother, N.P. Blanchard of Burgaw, NC and 2 grandchildren, Jennifer Price and Daniel Heglar. A graduate of Eastern Carolina University, Mrs. Heglar taught school for the Cabarrus County School System for 34 years. The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at Cold Springs United Methodist Church, 2550 Cold Springs Road, Concord, NC. The service will follow at 2:00 pm in the church, with Dr. Neil Haynes officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society at 9801-I Southern Pine Blvd., Charlotte, NC 28273. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Heglar family.
