Helen Long

Helen Houston Long, 93 years of age, of Concord, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. Mrs. Long was born August 7, 1920 in Cabarrus County to the late George Houston Harrison and the late Bessie Elizabeth Harrison . She was also preceded in death by her husband Bonner Franklin Long, three brothers, and two sisters. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home - Concord. The funeral service will be on Wednesday at 3:00 pm at the funeral home chapel and will be officiated by Rev Roger Barker. Burial will follow at the Oakwood Cemetery in Concord. Survivors include two sons, Garry (Elizabeth) Long of Concord, and Larry (Marjorie) Long of Oakboro; sister, Dorothy Haynes of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Wendy (Greg) Tucker, Richard (Andrea) Long, Candy (Ricky) Russell, Robert (Vanessa) Long; eight great-grandchildren, Tyler, Desmond, Ruby, and Ryan Long; John Owen and Laney Tucker; Cali Russell, and Allison Teeter. The family would like to extend a special thanks to her sister, Dorothy Haynes and the staff at St Andrews for their many years of love and care-giving.
