Helen Marie Smith

Helen Marie Smith, 91, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2025.

Born on July 2, 1933, in Union County to the late James Bruce Mullis and the late Emma Faye Thomas Mullis of Oakboro. She was also preceded in death by husband, Vance James Smith of Oakboro, daughter, Helen Ramelle Smith of Stanfield, brothers, Jerrel "Don" Mullis of Olive Branch, Sherrill Mullis of Oakboro, sister, Hazel Mae Smith of Stanfield, three grandsons, Scott Coffee of Granite Falls, Ruben James Tucker of Norwood and Chris Burris of Oakboro. 

Mrs. Smith worked in textiles to help raise her 5 children. She loved her family and always put them first even if she did without. Her church family at Dunn's Grove Baptist in Albemarle was her second family and she loved them all. Marie loved to volunteer at the Senior Center in Albemarle and Meals on Wheels. 

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 8, 2025, from 6pm -8pm at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Dunn's Grove Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Jeremy Holt. Burial will follow at the Stanly Gardens of Memory at 2001 East Main St., Albemarle.

She is survived by sons, Terral (Penny) Smith of Oakboro, NC, Dewey Smith of Oakboro, NC, daughters, Anita Burris of Oakboro, NC, Jane (Mike) Smith of Albemarle, NC, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 6 great - great grandchildren.
