Helen Medlin

Helen Elizabeth Swaringen Medlin, 89 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albemarle.

Helen was born December 15, 1924 in Stanly County to the late Marshall Henry Swaringen and the late Minnie Laney Swaringen. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lowell Medlin.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service, officiated by Elders Larry Austin and Branan Hooven, will be at 1:00 PM, Friday, March 14, 2014 at Liberty Hill Primitive Baptist Church. She will lie in state for 30 minutes prior to the service. The burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by sons, Tom Medlin and wife, Helen of Albemarle and David Medlin of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Judith Furr and husband, Richard of MI; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
