Helen Whitley

Helen Virginia Swaringen Whitley, 69, of Oakboro, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 in the Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington, NC. Mrs. Whitley was born March 24, 1942 in Stanly County. She was preceded in death by her father, James Harvey Swaringen, and her mother, Annie Lee Lambert Swaringen. The family will receive friends from 7 – 9 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 5, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel in Albemarle officiated by Rev. Sam Wilson. The burial will follow in the Faith Free Will Baptist Cemetery in New London. At other times, the family will meet at the home of her daughter Eunice Lamb. Survivors include her husband, Allen Whitley of Oakboro; her daughter, Eunice Lamb of Oakboro; brothers, John Swaringen of Oakboro and William Swaringen and Lee Swaringen, both of Albemarle; her sister, Janie Mae Whitley of Oakboro; and grandchildren, Elizabeth Lamb and Brandon Lamb.
