Henry Barnhardt

Mr. Henry Brice Barnhardt, 85, of 2233 Walker Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Brian Center in Concord. He was born on June 18, 1925 in Cabarrus County to the late Martin Luther and Mary Winecoff Barnhardt. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 4:00 pm at Cold Springs United Methodist Church, 2550 Cold Springs Road in Concord, with Dr. Neil Haynes, Rev. Mary Hatley, and Rev. Randy Wall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A visitation will held at the church immediately following the burial. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home on Helen Barnhardt, 2233 Walker Road in Mt. Pleasant. Henry worked for many years for Kerr Bleachery and Finishing in Concord and retired from UNCC Maintenance and Grounds. He worked for over 35 years maintaining the grounds of Cold Springs United Methodist Church. Henry loved his family and especially his little great grandchildren who always brought a smile to his face. He was a life member of Cold Springs United Methodist Church. He loved his Church and volunteered and worked there all his life. He was a faithful friend, loyal brother, and a child of God, who called him home. The family would like to thank all those who sent cards and visited him regularly at the Brian Center and to the staff of the Brian Center for caring for him for over two years. He is preceded in death by eight siblings, Orlando, John, Paul, Carl, Lee Barnhardt, Katherine Aldridge, Florence Shue and Lucille Maxwell and one grandson. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Wiley Barnhardt, of the home; son, Rev. Rick Lee Barnhardt and wife, Rev. Patsy Barnhardt, of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Brenda Barnhardt Long, of Mt. Pleasant; sister, Gertrude Helms Burch, of Concord; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Building or Cemetery Fund of Cold Springs United Methodist Church, 2550 Cold Springs Road, Concord, NC 28025 or to Triple R Ministries, P.O. Box 5691, Concord, NC 28027 helping those in need in our community.
