Henry Culp

Henry Wilburn Culp, Jr., Age 88 of Old US 52 N, New London, NC 28127, passed away on February 14, 2010 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham. Born in Stanly County on Feb 14, 1922, Mr. Henry Culp, Jr. was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Elizabeth Culp, his sister Evelyn Culp Pickler, and his father Henry Wilburn Culp, Sr. Henry was a lifelong member of New London United Methodist Church. He graduated from Duke University in 1942 with a degree in business. He served in the US Air Force from 1943 to 1946. He was a Lions Club member and past president, a trustee of Pfeiffer College, and a member of the board of directors at Wachovia. He was the president of H.W. Culp Lumber Co. in New London NC. Mr. Henry Culp, Jr was survived by his spouse Jewell Rogers Culp of New London NC; his sons Henry "Hank" Culp III and wife Judy of New London NC, George Rogers Culp of Santa Barbara CA, his grandchildren: Amy Culp Shelton and husband Stan, John Henry Culp, Clint W. Culp, Monica Culp Faust, Michelle Culp Hahn, Thomas M. Culp, great-grandchildren, Grayson Shelton Reese Shelton, Camille Shelton, Joseph Culp, and Emma Grace Faust. A funeral service will be held at New London United Methodist on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. Officiating will be Bishop Lawrence McClesky and Rev. Tony Allen. A visitation will follow in the church fellowship hall. Memorials may be made to: New London United Methodist Church.
