Henry Houston

Henry Lee Houston 93 of Harrisburg, NC passed away on Tuesday, September 01, 2009 at The Oaks At Town Center. Born in Cabarrus County on September 28, 1915 to the late Hugh Allen Houston and the late Cora Lee (Wallace) Houston. Also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Morris (Wilson) Houston. Mr. Houston was a retired principal. Henry graduated from Harrisburg High School in 1933 and from Appalachian State Teachers College in 1936. He began teaching at Derita High School in Mecklenburg County, taking time to serve his country in the US Army 100th Division during World War II in the European theatre. He returned to teaching in 1945 and later served as principal at Sharon High School and Ashley Park Elementary School. H was a member of Harrisburg Presbyterian Church and served many years as an elder. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 04, 2009 from 10 am until 11 am at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. Funeral services will be on Friday, September 04, 2009 at 11 am at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. John Muse officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers for Mr. Houston will be Tim Carmichael, Randy Ford, Todd Hady, Jeff Hanson, Rick Houser, & Joey Houston. Survivors include; son, Morris Houston of Charlotte, NC; nephew, Jim Houston & wife Jean of Harrisburg, NC; and great nephew, Joey Houston & wife Ashley of Charlotte, NC.
