Henry Ray Morgan, age 82, of Marshville, NC, died Wednesday, October 26, 2011, at his home. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2011, at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Ocotober 29, 2011, with a 30 minute state, at Carolina Presbyterian Church, Locust, officiated by Rev. Patrick Womack, assisted by Rev. Michael Cannon, Jr. Burial will be at Carolina Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. At other times, the family will meet at his home. Born April 5, 1929, in Moore County, he was the son of the late Henry Bowden Morgan and Nursie Britt Morgan. Mr. Morgan is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Faye Tweed Morgan of the home; two sons, David Morgan of New Salem, and Stephen Morgan and wife, Brenda, of Stanfield; and three brothers, Bill Morgan of Laurinburg, NC, Gilbert Morgan of Greenville, SC, and Larry Morgan of Hilton Head, SC. A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Morgan served his country in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Riley, KS. He received his B.S. at Appalachian State University and his Masters of Education at UNC-Chapel Hill. A charter member and elder at Carolina Presbyterian Church, Mr. Morgan was principal at New Salem Elementary School for 26 years.
