Henry Calvin Thomas

Henry "HC/Hank" Thomas, 90 of Charlotte, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 22, 2025.

He was born the fourth child of seven on July 14, 1934, in Anson County to the late Onas Hall Thomas and Susie Tucker Thomas of Peachland, NC. He was also preceded in death by his beautiful and devoted wife Lois, of almost 65 years, in 2022; his six siblings, Mabel Price, Robert Thomas (Johnsie), Doris Watkins (Jon), Barbara Turner (Ralph), Roland Thomas, and Delane Thomas; and niece, Rhonda Nance.

Hank earned a good conduct medal from the United States Army, where he served as a radio teletype operator from 1957-1959. He retired from Western Electric after 31 years, then began another career with Eaglewood, where he worked another 30 years. Hank was a dedicated member, deacon, teacher and volunteer at Newell Baptist Church for almost 60 years. He was the guy you could call when you needed something fixed, someone to give you advice, or just to accompany you. He spent years being the first and last at church, opening and closing up the buildings. He loved the Lord and he loved people.

Hank is survived by his sons, Philip and Brian, who he took great pride in and loved deeply; daughters-in-law, Tammy and Stephanie, who he loved as if they were his own; and he absolutely adored his grandbabies, Heather, Luke, Madison, and MaKenna. He welcomed Heather’s husband, Nathan, as one of the grandkids. He is also survived by sisters-in-law, Gail Thomas, Shelby Thomas, Myra McRae; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he dearly loved.

An incredibly beloved Dad, PopPop, and dear friend to many, he will be sorely missed.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 1:45 on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at King’s Church of Charlotte: formerly Newell Baptist, 9115 Newell Baptist Church Rd, Charlotte. Hank's celebration of life with military honors will follow at 2:00 pm at the church.
