Lee Johnson, 74, of Concord, NC passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, at home.
Lee was born March 13, 1948, in Marietta, Georgia, son of the late Herlie Lee Johnson and the late Mary Lee Polk. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Clarence B. Polk.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 10th, at 2:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord, officiated by Rev Mark Weathers. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park in Concord, NC.
Lee moved to Charlotte at a young age. He graduated from Garinger High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Army as a Military Policeman, stationed in Germany. After a honorable discharge, he continued his education at Central Piedmont Community College. Lee and Kathy Brasher married in 1972 and then began working for Jim Brasher at the JL Brasher Company, a plumbing manufactures’ rep agency. He and Kathy purchased the rep agency in 1981. They continued their lives working together until retirement in 2016, whereby selling the rep agency to their daughter, Jennifer.
Lee and Kathy celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July of 2022. After his retirement, he enjoyed socializing with old friends and new ones, going on long walks in Dorton Park while listening to audio books, watching the news to stay informed, listening to country music, doing his daily NY Times crossword puzzles, and traveling, but his favorite times were spent with his loving family.
Survivors include wife, Kathy Johnson of Concord, NC; daughters, Melissa J. Lingerfelt and Jennifer J. Deaton (Jon); grandchildren, Amanda Lingerfelt, Eric Lingerfelt and Taylor Deaton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to the Saint Jude Organization.
