Herman Nicholson, Sr

Herman Gail Nicholson, Sr., 82, of Midland, NC, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at home with his family after a long battle with prostrate cancer. Mr. Nicholson was born April 27, 1930 in Pageland, SC, to the late Alice Wallace Nicholson and Henry John Nicholson, Sr. The family will receive friends from 1 – 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at United Love Baptist Church, 11487 Flowes Store Road, Midland, NC 28107. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Marvin Tyson, will follow at 2:00 pm with Air Force Military Honors. Herman is survived by his wife Betty for 61 years; sons, Herman “Butch” Nicholson, Jr. and wife Debbie; Robert “Rob” Nicholson; daughters, Cindy Moyers and husband Keith; Kathy Austin; nine grand children; six great grandchildren and extended family; and his beloved pet, Baxter. Herman’s new role in heaven will be the master gardener and making sure that all bird feeders are full. He retired from the Air Force after 22 years of service. We want to thank Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
