Hilda Troutman

Hilda Sue Chaney Troutman, 80, of Midland, passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022.

Hilda was born October 10, 1941, in Charlotte to the late John Addison Chaney, Jr. and the late Sudie Mack Sloop Chaney.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John Chaney III and Howard Chaney.

Hilda enjoyed listening to music, flower gardening, and bird-watching.  She also enjoyed reading, shopping, using the computer, and surfing the internet.  She also played the piano and organ several years ago for Midland Baptist Church and Mill Grove UMC.  She retired after 27 years as a rural mail carrier with the Midland Post Office.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, William "Bill" Franklin Troutman, Sr.; daughter, Karen Troutman Duncan of Midland; daughter, Janice Troutman Schmugge of Monroe; son, William "Bill" Troutman, Jr. of Midland; son, Robert "Bobby" Troutman of Oakboro; daughter, Ginger Troutman Pains of SC; son, Forrest Troutman of CA; daughter, Farrah Troutman of SC; grandchildren, Ashley, Raymond, Nicole, William, Daniel, Brittany, Mateo, Lola, Stella, Isaac, and Lillian; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 1:45 pm, Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland.  The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at First Baptist Church Cemetery, 4720 Garmon Mill Road, Midland.
