Hobert Lee Morton, 90, of Hickory, passed away Friday, October 25, 2019 at Taylorsville House in Taylorsville, NC.
He was a flight mechanic in the United States Air Force where he served our country for 20 years, from 1948 to 1968. He was one of
the oldest members of the VFW in Albemarle.
Hobert was born August 17, 1929 in Oakboro, NC to the late George Morton and the late Rosa Morton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Carrielee Gilbert of Oakboro and Rachel Little of Kannapolis; and seven brothers, Arthur Morton, Bill Morton, Ray Morton and Reece Morton, all of Oakboro, Bruce Morton of Polkton, Vance Morton of Stanfield, and Warren Morton of Davidson. Hobert was the last surviving sibling of his family.
Survivors include sons, Lee Morton of Denver, Colorado, Edward Morton of Denver, Colorado, and Steve Morton of Albemarle; and nephew, Rodney Morton of Hickory. Hobert was loved and respected by all who met him. He will truly be missed.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 30, 2019 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Hartsell Funeral Home. Services will follow at 12:00 PM . Burial will follow at the Smith's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at Highway 138, Oakboro, NC.
