Homer Honeycutt

Homer Clayton "Red" Honeycutt, 78 years of age, passed away Saturday, January 18, 2014 at home in Locust.

Red was born April 29, 1935 in North Carolina to the late Homer Lee Honeycutt and the late Maude Honeycutt .

He was the owner and operator of Locust Pump and Well Drilling for 50 yrs. He was a member of the Lion's Club in Locust for a number of years, a former member of the Locust Fire Department, a lifetime member of Bethel Baptist Church, and an avid outdoorsman and hunter.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm, Monday, January 20, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Midland. The funeral service will be on Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church in Locust officiated by Pastor Charlie Littlejohn and Jeremy Hyde. Burial will follow at the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. At other times, the family will be meeting at the home in Locust.

Survivors include wife of 57 years, Linda Furr Honeycutt of Locust, NC; son, Gary Honeycutt (Jeanne Howie) of Albemarle, NC; son, Reggie (Susan) Honeycutt of Locust, NC; daughter, Sherry (Eric)Vaughn of Locust, NC; grandchildren, Emily Lambert, Jason Honeycutt, Hannah Honeycutt, and Clay Vaughn; great-grandchildren, Breyden and Kinley Lambert, Olivia Honeycutt, Elexis Bullins; brother, Bruce Honeycutt of Charlotte, NC; sister, Mildred Haynes of VA; sister, Nadine Moose of AK.

In Lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Honeycutt family.
