Horace Morton

Horace Floyd Morton, age 71 of 26163 Millingport Road, Albemarle, NC 28001, passed away on May 02, 2010 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle. He was retired from Rusco in Oakboro and attended St. Martin Lutheran Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping with his buddies. Painting and woodworking were two of his many hobbies. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8, Tuesday, May 4 at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. At other times the family will meet at the home. The funeral service will be at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 5, at Hartsell Funeral Home’s Lefler Memorial Chapel. Rev. Judy Copeland and Rev. Leslee Wray will officiate and burial will be at Canton Baptist Church Cemetery. Born in Stanly County on August 20, 1938, he is the son of the late Ulysses Perason Morton and the late Carrie Howell Morton. He was also preceded in death by 3 brothers; Rayford Morton, Kenneth Morton and Alton Morton. He is survived by his wife, Rozana Morton of the home; son, Tim Morton and wife Mitzi of Albemarle; daughters, Bonnie Gibson and husband Bart , Tonya Fraley, all of Albemarle; stepsons, Joe Oliver and wife Christy, Randy Oliver and wife Christal, Duane Oliver, and Chester Oliver and wife Sandra, all of Albemarle; stepdaughters, Vickie Morton and husband Roger and Lynn Jefferson and husband Ron, all of Albemarle; sisters, Betty Shaver and Shirley Strickland, both of Albemarle; 21 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
