Howard Hartsell

Howard Hartsell, 84, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Tucker Hospice House. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service, officiated by Sgt. Terry Hertzog, Dr. Zachery Sizemore, Rev. Jeff Upright and Pastor Kevin Hartsell, will be held in the Hartsell Funeral Home chapel on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery. At other times the family will meet at his home. Howard was born on June 15, 1927, to the late Dewey Lee Hartsell and the late Fannie Mae Brown Hartsell. He loved nature and its animals, enjoyed his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren and he lived life to the fullest. Howard was a WWII veteran of the U. S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Eddie Hartsell; and a sister, Kinza “Kay” Hartsell. He is survived by his wife, Frances Louella Blackwell Hartsell; two sons, Dr. Kevin Hartsell and his wife Shelia Walters Hartsell and Mark Hartsell and his wife Pam Moose Hartsell, all of Concord; a brother, Ralph Hartsell of Concord; two grandchildren, Wesley Shawn Hartsell and Mary Kathryn “Katy” Hartsell; and two great-grandchildren, Patrick Shawn Hartsell and Clair Isabelle Hartsell; and a special friend, David Hartsell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081. Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord is serving the Hartsell family.
