Howard Helms

Howard Franklin Helms, 80, of Concord, passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.

Howard was born May 11, 1941 in Cabarrus County to the late Mary Hudson Helms. He was also preceded in death by his son, Darrell Franklin Helms; brothers, Olin Helms, and James Helms; and sister, Willene Herrin.

Howard loved his family, animals, fishing, swimming, going on vacation with family, and loved to water ski. He coached the boys club football for several years. Loved playing football with his son and grandson in the backyard. He always kept up with school games, he was the biggest kid! He was a man who never met a stranger, and always had a smile on his face. There wasn't a neighbor that he didn't speak to as they walked down the road. Even the days in the hospital, the nurses called him Mr. Adorable.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm - 4:45 pm, Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Eastside Baptist Missionary Church. The funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm officiated by Stephen Burrow. 199 Elgin Dr NE, Concord, NC 28025

Survivors include loving wife of 61 years, Gail Helms of Concord, NC, daughters, Angela (Scott) Joyner and  Mary Denise Helms; grandchildren, Michael Helms, Heather Clay, Cody Helms, Jared Helms, and Maverick "Chase" Joyner; and brother, Joe Helms.
