Howard Scarboro

Howard Lee Scarboro, 74 years of age, of Concord passed away on Friday, March 6, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

Howard was born July 25, 1940 in North Carolina to the late Robert Scarboro and Lela Elizabeth Scarboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be on Monday at 3:00 pm at Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord officiated by Rev. David Hockett and Rev. Suzanne Dornsmith . Burial will follow at the Cabarrus Memorial Gardens at 3892 Hwy 73 , Concord.

Survivors include wife, Anne Greene Scarboro of Concord, NC, son, Darin Scarboro and wife Ladan of Concord, daughter, Leigh Anne Kurtz and husband Kevin of Concord, sister, Robbie Scarboro of Concord. Three grandchildren Morgan Leigh Ridenhour, Aiden Yashar Scarboro and Kallie Marie Kurtz.

Howard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, retired as a Captain after serving 30 years in the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Dept. during which time he brought 911 to Cabarrus County. He was a member of the Associated Public Communication Officers (APCO). Howard continued in public service as a bailiff for Superior Court in Cabarrus County after his retirement from the Sheriffs Dept.. He was an active member of Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord and was a member of Cabarrus County Law Enforcement Association and also North Carolina Retired Peace Officers Association where he served in all the leadership positions.
