Howard Joel Williams, 71, of Charlotte, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2010, at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Tim Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow at Kannapolis Cemetery. Military Honors will be performed by the Cabarrus County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will be meeting at the home.
Mr. Williams was born January 31, 1938 in Iredell County to the late Joel Brooks Williams and the late Annie Esther Walker Williams. He was a retired corporate quality controller for Kellwood Manufacturing in Perry, GA, and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was proud to have served his country as a US Marine. He enjoyed riding motorcycles.
He is survived by his wife, Becky H. Williams, of the home; son, Keith Williams and wife, Kristen, of Concord; brother, William Williams, of Canton, GA; sisters, Eva Connor, of Columbia, SC, and Brenda Oeding, of Panama City, FL; and grandchildren, Jacob and Tori Williams.
