Hugh Mac Black, Sr., 73 years of age, of Midland, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 30, 2013. Hugh Mac was born February 21, 1940 in Midland to the late Ernest Davis Black and the late Foda Avery Black. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Jeffrey, Herbert, and Sonny Black; and sisters, Marie Long, Alene Morrison, and Geraldine Gibson. Hugh Mac was a member and usher at Clear Creek Baptist Church. He spent over 30 years in the upholstery business at Pennsylvania House and was a life long farmer. He was famous for his annual Pig Pickin that began back in the 80s. It was a well known community event that everyone cleared their calendar for from year to year. Everyone will truly miss this wonderful time of fellowship that was made possible by Hugh Mac opening his home and heart to make everyone welcome. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 pm, Friday, November 1, 2013 at Clear Creek Baptist Church, Charlotte. The funeral service will follow at the church at 4:00 pm and will be officiated by Rev. Don Lisk and Rev. Dr. Rocky Branch. Burial will follow at the Clear Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 9015 Ferguson Road, Charlotte. Survivors include wife, Sue Thomas Black of the home; son, Hugh Mac (Sandy) Black, Jr.; daughter, Robin Black Baucom and special friend Dave Teague of Unionville; grandsons, Joshua, Caleb, Noah, and Samuel Black, and Riley Baucom; great-grandson, Easton Baucom; brother, Delane Black; sisters, Betty Ruth Love, Hannah Williams, and Glenda Flowe. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clear Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 9015 Ferguson Rd, Charlotte, NC 28227. Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland is serving the Black family.
