Hugh Blair, Sr

Hugh William Blair, Sr. (Bill) formally of Mt. Pleasant, NC, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at Gardens at Taylor Glenn of Concord.

Hugh was born March 23, 1933 to the late Alonzo Blair and Fannie Mitchell. He was preceded in death by a son, Hugh William Blair Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm, Friday, November 11th at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord. The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 12th, at 11am, at First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, officiated by Pastor Charles Walker White IV. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens in Concord.

Survivors include wife, Frances Maas Blair of the home; daughters, Beverly Blair Dukes of Concord and Diana Lynn Blair of Dallas, NC; daughter-in-law Stacey Clifton of Concord; son-in-law Garry Dukes of Concord; grandchildren, Hugh William Blair III (Trey), Cortney Elizabeth Smith, Brad McKenzie Smith, Matthew Blair Measmer, Austin Tyler Dukes, Lindsey Nicole Dukes; great grandchild, Carlee Meredith Blair; sisters, Garnet Milburn, of Conway, SC; Frances Barrett of Boston; sisters-in-law, Ruth Maas Carroll, of Lynchburg, OH; Winifred Maas Charles of Sacramento, CA; Bonnie Maas of Lynchburg, OH; brother-in-law, William Maas of Lynchburg, OH.

Hugh was the eighth child of twelve. He met his wife Frances Maas at church in Harwood, Ohio. They made their homes in Michigan, Florida and settled in Mt. Pleasant, NC in 1968 where they lived and raised their family. Hugh and Frances enjoyed a career together in Residential and Commercial Construction in Michigan, Florida and North Carolina. Hugh held Contractor Licenses in Michigan, Florida and North Carolina. Hugh served his Country in the Military Branch of the United States Marine Corp.
