Hugh “Chuck” Simpson, 63, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loving family late May 5, 2017 at Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital in Murrells Inlet, He was born in Concord, North Carolina on December 26, 1953 to Hazel Lucile and the late Melvin Leroy Simpson.
Along with his father, Chuck is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Emma Mae Roach and Jewel Simpson; his grandfathers, Worth Roach and Lee Simpson; as well as his best friend, Daniel Thomas Austin.
Chuck was the owner and operator of Simpson’s Trucking & Diesel Company. Always willing to give the shirt of his back to those in need, Chuck was a great friend to all who had the pleasure of getting to know him through the years. He will be fondly remembered as a loving father and Paw- Paw.
With his mother, Hazel of Concord, North Carolina, left to cherish Chuck’s memory is his children, Sherrie Simpson of Concord, North Carolina, Jason Simpson and his wife Jennifer of Concord, North Carolina and Miranda Paulsen and her husband Matthew of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; grandchildren, Tyler Penninger, Alexis Simpson, Estyn Paulsen, Gracie Simpson, and Grady Paulsen; sisters, Ann Styers and her husband Mike, Brenda Broadway, Debbie Kendall and her husband Jeff and Teresa Carter and her husband Richard, all of Concord, North Carolina; as well as many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Suzanne Briscoe of North Myrtle Beach.
A Celebration of Chuck’s Life was held at Burroughs Funeral Home of Murrells Inlet, 3558 Old Kings Highway, on Saturday May 13, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
A graveside service will be held for Chuck on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 3:00 PM, at Cold Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tony Bell will officiate.
