Hugh Gene Dennis

Hugh Gene “Hoss” Dennis, 85, of Albemarle, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at his home.

Gene was born September 15, 1935 in North Carolina to the late J Hue Dennis and Rebecca Morton Dennis. His son, Darrell Gene Dennis, and grandson, Adrian, preceded Gene in death.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel, officiated by Buck Moore and Pastor Caitlin McAlhany.  Burial will follow at Randall United Methodist Church Cemetery, 48144 Randalls Church Rd, Norwood.

Survivors include wife, Pansy Janette Dennis; son, Danny (Leigh Ann) Dennis; grandsons, Derek (Lori) Dennis, Alec Dennis, and Sam (Paige) Dennis; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Rosa Curlee.

Gene was a loving husband to his wife of over sixty-eight years. He loved his family and friends and was passionate about the outdoors and gardening. Gene’s faith in God was strong. He was loved and admired by many. Gene worked for over fifty years at Albemarle Spinning Mill as a mechanic. His incredible work ethic set an example for his whole family. Gene always valued and stressed the importance of an education. He will be dearly missed.
