Ida Barrier

Ida McCachren Barrier, 96 years of age, of Harrisburg, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at Pruitt Health in Harrisburg.
Ida was born January 24, 1920 in North Carolina to the late Dixon Blair McCachren and the late Mary Celeste McCachren. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Ben Barrier, brothers, John G. McCachren; Yates 'Ted' McCachren; Dixon 'Buck' Blair McCachren, Jr.; Parks Clanton McCachren; sisters, Mary Florence Houston and Helen McCachren.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church. The funeral service will be on Thursday at 2:00 pm at Harrisburg Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg officiated by Pastor Tim Bostick. Burial will follow at the Harrisburg Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
Survivors include nephews and nieces: Jim Houston, Becky Howell, Gary McCachren, Herman McCachren, Jane Vaughn, Jody McCachren, John G McCachren, Jr., Mary Helen Hartsell, Michael McCachren, Patrick McCachren, Paul McCachren,Teddy McCachren, and Marie Andrews.
She began working in 1939 at Hugh Grey Hosiery where she worked for 17 years and finished her career in 1986 with the NC Dept. of Revenue after working for 29 years. She had been a life long member of Harrisburg Presbyterian Church where she was a faithful member of the choir from 1947.
