Idalene Whitley, age 82, of Albemarle, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, children and grandchildren at 2:35pm on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at Tucker Hospice House in Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle, on Thursday, March 21, 2013 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Elizabeth Ayscue ,will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle, on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 8:30 am. Interment will follow at Salisbury National VA Cemetery at 11 am. Mrs. Whitley was born on September 9, 1930, to the late Henry Daniel Lowder and the late Clyde Della Chandler Lowder. She is also preceded in death by her husband in 2009, Earl McClain Whitley, a World War II Marine Corp veteran. She is survived by four children,Gerald McClain Whitley of Raleigh, NC; daughter, Lori Whitley Gaskin and husband Chuck of Advance, NC; son, John Daniel Whitley and wife Chrystal of Goose Creek, SC; and a daughter, Pamela Whitley Misenheimer and husband Rex of Lawrenceville, GA; ten grandchildren, Jennifer Whitley, Ashley Buckingham, Heather Pugliese, Katherine Reeves, Andrew Misenheimer, Lauren Whitley, Justin Misenheimer, Matthew Misenheimer, Seth Whitley and Samuel Misenheimer. Upon graduation from Albemarle High School, Mrs. Whitley enjoyed a successful 40 year career as a Bank Teller with First National Bank of Albemarle, later merged with First Union Bank. She was highly respected throughout the community, socially outgoing, an avid bridge player, and extensively involved in the First Presbyterian Church of Albemarle throughout her life. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 North First St. Albemarle NC 28001 or the Stanly County Senior Center, 283 N. Third Street, Albemarle, NC 28001. Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Whitley family.
