Irene Lowder

Irene Peggy Woodford Lowder, age 86 of Albemarle, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2012 at Beacon Place-Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 23 at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM in the Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Jim Yow. Burial will be in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Lowder was born in England on January 17, 1926 to the late Mr. and Mrs. John William Woodford. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Cameron Loutrelle Lowder, in 2011; one sister, Ada Woodford Watts; two brothers, Reggie Woodford and John Woodford. She is survived by two daughters, Kay Lowder of Albemarle and Susan Moore and her husband Dan of Greensboro; one granddaughter, Meredith Moore; two nieces, Jean Yates of FL, and Andrea Woodford of England; one nephew, Jeff Woodford of England. Mrs. Lowder was employed by the Albemarle Oil Company for over 20 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother and a long time member of Central United Methodist Church where she was an active member of the choir and women’s organizations.
