Iris Porter

Nina Iris Porter, 85, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at her home. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home in Concord on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 12 until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow in the chapel at 2 pm. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Iris was born on April 18, 1927 in Cabarrus County, to the late John Payne and Ester Bundy Roberts. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Marvin Wilson Porter in 2009 and a son in law Nick L. Whitley. Ms. Porter was an office manager for The Floyd Clinic. She was president of The Medical Assistants of North Carolina and a very active member of McKinnon Presbyterian Church. She is survived by: daughters, Rebecca P. Whitley of Concord and Suzanne P. Haubenreiser and husband Ben of Pinehurst; grandchildren, Angela W. Hartsell, Kimberly W. Talley, Meredith G.Neal, Megan E. Haubenreiser, Laura W. Roberts; great grandchildren, Brittany H. Hatley, Shannon A Hartsell, Justin M. L. Hartsell, Rebecca F. Talley, Sarah G. Talley; great great grandchildren, Peyton B. Marlow, Kayden R. Hatley, Parker C. Neal; nieces, Donna L. Roberts of Concord, Linda R. Barnett of Rockwell, Neva Jo Roberts of Concord. Memorials may be made to The Concord and Greater Cabarrus Humane Society 2010 Wilshire Court SW Concord, NC 28025.
