Iris Jean Cox Sanders was received into Heaven on Friday, September 27, 2013. She was born on February 6, 1933 to the late James Earl and Mary Virginia Hamilton Cox. In addition to her parents she is also preceded in death by a special son-in-law, John Thomas Wilson. Her beloved husband, Donald Leroy Sanders, and she enjoyed traveling with her brother, Kendred Allen Cox and wife, Shelby of Kannapolis and friends from their church. She attended Harvest Community Church on Orphanage Road in Concord. She is survived by her husband, Don; two daughters, Deborah Sanders Roach and husband Keith of Kannapolis and Donna Sanders Light and husband Brian of Kingsport, TN.; three grandsons, Kelly Kellis and wife Patty of Concord, Bryan Roach of Landis , and Jarad Kellis and wife Aprille of Kannapolis. The loves of her life were the two great grand daughters, Karissa and Kourtney Kellis of Concord. She is also survived by a niece, Judy Cox Burris of Kannapolis. The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Concord on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 12:00 until 2:00 pm . A graveside service will be held at Carolina Memorial Park in Kannapolis immediately following visitation. Other times the family will be at the home of daughter Deborah in Kannapolis. The family would like to thank Cathy Eubank, her Nurse and Daily Caretaker as well as her Hospice Nurse Susan Haigler and Keegan McCombs, Hospice Social Worker. They are truly Angels on Earth. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, 5003 Hospice Lane,Kannapolis, NC 28081 Hartsell Funeral Home is serving the Sanders family.
