Jack Curlee

Jack Junior Curlee, 88 years of age, of Oakboro, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast in Concord. Jack was born August 14, 1925 in Stanly County to the late Devotion Curlee and the late Lectie Curlee. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Holt Curlee and a sister, Louise Curlee. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. The funeral service officiated by Rev. Jeff Whitecotton and Rev. Jerome Cash will be at 3:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2014 in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel in Albemarle. Burial will follow at the Smith's Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 138, Oakboro. He is survived by daughters, Patricia Whitecotton of Oakboro and Kathy (Ron) Wright of Matthews; sons Tony (Connie) Curlee of Wadesboro and Jack "JJ" (Louise) Curlee of Oakboro; sister, Edith Little and Myrtle Drye, both of Oakboro; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and special friend, Willadeen Williams. A veteran of the US Marines, he served in the South Pacific during WWII. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
